Abel Wolman was a pioneer in regional water resource supply, management, purification, and wastewater disposal, he consulted with national and international agencies to assure the public’s health. At Johns Hopkin’s University, he trained generations of environmental engineers.
Charles S. Elton is often considered as the father of the science of animal ecology, his fundamental research has led to a greater understanding of ecological competition, and the organization and disruption of animal communities.
Rene Dubos was a scientist and internationally influential author, his books and articles provided society with a new perspective on the interaction between the environment and humanity.
