In 1990’s Mexico, many believed rampant deforestation was simply the cost of doing business. But one man saw an alternative and launched what would become the most successful biodiversity program in history. That man is Dr. José Sarukhán and the program is CONABIO, The National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity.
It’s Good Business: Moving Beyond Conservation is an award winning short documentary that explores the age old idea that capitalism must be against the health of the environment in order to make a profit. Although we all want to protect our planet, current models of environmental conservation are failing. It is clear that we urgently need a different approach to protect nature. This documentary analyzes what made CONABIO successful, where other conservation efforts failed dramatically. This mini environmental documentary features a host of Tyler Prize Laureates and focuses specifically on our 2017 Laureate, Dr. José Sarukhán.
